Troy (Sol) Edler is a native of the Washington, D.C./ Metropolitan area. His approach to singing/songwriting and his delivery have been influenced by everything from gospel and jazz, to classic rhythm & blues, hip-hop, and even spoken word.
A graduate of North Carolina Central University, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Visual Communication Art, he has performed in various choral organizations, from his church choir as a child, to college gospel & university choirs. Sol has performed with recording groups such as The Deliverance Ensemble, based in North Carolina, and Timothy Brown & Covenant and the male a capella quintet Reverb, both based in Washington, D.C.
In recent years, Sol has developed more as a poet and songwriter and has performed and featured his original spoken word and music at such local venues as Bar Nun, Mangos, the Kaffa House, Bohemian Caverns, and Organic Soul. He has done studio work with local talents O.U.O (Of Unknown Origin/ hip-hop), Alexei Tsybine (jazz/ spoken word), and has done rhythm & blues songwriting and vocal demo work for Beatlife Productions.
Even though he has worked in various capacities (everything from bowling alley maintenance, to photo developing, to teaching fine arts to high school students), music is Sol's passion- the only thing that "makes him happy and keeps him sane". He is currently completely an album project that will feature live and studio recordings, tentatively titled Song Of Solomon. He considers his musical gifts sacred and endeavors to make a living by making "timeless" music.
